Anushka Sharma’s dark and violent NH10, which received an ‘Adults Only’ certificate after several cuts in India, has been given a ‘Universal’ certificate in Pakistan. The Pakistani censor board reportedly passed the film with similar cuts as ordered by the CBFC here, which include the censoring of swear words and a few graphically violent scenes. But what comes as a surprise is that Pakistani board has deemed the film as fit for viewing by all ages!
Here’s a look at some of the films the Pakistani censor board thought was unfit to be watched by anyone in the country:
Raanjhnaa’s ban came as a surprise. Pakistan banned it on the grounds that it portrays an inapt image of a Muslim girl falling in love with a Hindu man
Baby was banned in Pakistan because “it portrayed a negative image of Muslims.”
Ek Tha Tiger & Agent Vinod were a no show in Pakistan for its depiction of Pakistani intelligence officers.
Khiladi 786 wasn’t given a release in Pakistan as 786 is a number revered by Muslims and it could hurt religious sentiments.
And finally, no prizes for guessing why Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider was banned in Pakistan!
