Legendary music composer Mohammed Zahur 'Khayyam' Hashmi passed away at the age of 92 on 19 August. With about 50 films to his credit, his music has had a huge impact on generations. When living legend Lata Mangeshkar tweeted to describe music maestro Khayyam’s demise as the “end of an era”, she said it all. Khayyam’s music, soaked in the spirit of rich classical allure, represents the sort of melody unthinkable in mainstream Bollywood nowadays.
To think that we’ll again be able to witness the magic he created through his tunes, will be going a bit too far. As a homage to the music maestro, we revisit some of our favorite songs by him.
Kabhie Kabhie
In Aankhon ki Masti
Karoge Yaad Toh
Zindagi Jab Bhi Teri Bazm Mein
Aaja Re O Mere Dilbar
Ae Dil E Nadaan
Dil Cheez Kya Hai
Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon
Mohabbat Bade Kaam Ki Cheez Hai
Phir Chhidi Raat
