The first song from Ashutosh Gowarikar’s upcoming period drama Panipat has been released. Titled ‘Mard Maratha’, the song speaks of Maratha pride and the contributions that Maratha rulers and soldiers have made. The video for the song features pivotal characters from the film including Sadashiv Rao (Arjun Kapoor), Nana Saheb Peshwa (Mohnish Bahl), Vishwas Rao (Abhishek Nigam) and Shamsher Bahadur (Sahil Salathia). Kriti Sanon also makes an appearance as Parvati Bai. The song has been composed by Ajay-Atul with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the song was shot on a grand scale at a life-size recreation of Shaniwar Wada in Karjat and reportedly features 1,300 dancers, including traditional Lejhim performers from Pune.
Panipat stars an ensemble cast of Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Bahl and Padmini Kolhapure in pivotal roles with Zeenat Aman in a guest appearance. The film is based on the Third Battle of Panipat, which took place on 14 January 1761. The battle was fought between the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali, supported by two Indian allies – the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh. The film releases on 6 December.
