The 54th Femina Miss India World 2017 winner Manushi Chhillar from Haryana has been crowned Miss World 2017 in the Sanya City Arena in China PR. Manushi was chosen from among 108 contestants at the beauty pageant.
Manushi, born to doctor parents, studied in St. Thomas School in Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.
In an interview during her grooming for Miss India, she said: "The only thing I believe is certain in life is uncertainty and this is what is amazing about the pageant."
Reita Faria, a medical student, was the first Indian and first Asian to win the Miss World title in 1966. Manushi who coincidentally is also a medical student, posted Reita’s picture on her Instagram account just a day ago.
Here’s a video that Manushi shared on Facebook of herself at the pageant a few weeks ago.
Before heading for the Miss World pageant, Manushi had said in an interview that she always dreamt of competing for the Miss World title.
“As a kid, I always wanted to participate in the competition but I never knew I would make it this far. Winning the Miss World title is now not just my dream, but also that of my family and friends. I know it’s going to be a journey that I will never forget. Whatever the result, I am going to learn, enjoy and give it my best. The rest, I leave to destiny.”Manushi Chhillar
