Kiran Rao, film director and wife of superstar Aamir Khan, has lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime police station at Bandra Kurla Complex against an unidentified person, who has created a fake Facebook account in her name and is impersonating her on social media.
42-year-old Rao registered the complaint on Saturday and said that the impersonator has uploaded her picture on Facebook and is also chatting with her friends and family members, police said.
Friend Requests Sent in her Name
A case has been registered in this connection and a probe initiated. Police has refused to divulge further details.
According to a report in Mid-Day, an officer from the police station, requesting anonymity, said that Rao had given an application to lodge the FIR two days ago. On Saturday, the police recorded her statement.
While the police refused to reveal any details about the case, a source said that the accused had sent friend requests to many people in Rao’s circle. She learnt about the fake profile created in her name through a friend with whom the impersonator had got in touch.
