Come February 20th and supermodel Cindy Crawford will turn 50. She told United Airlines magazine, Rhapsody, that she is ready to move on from modeling. Crawford is one of the most-photographed women in the world since she was in high school, and her reported retirement was big news.

But the next thing we saw was a clarification on her Instagram post.

Every year, I tell my kids I’m retiring. It’s a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me. While it’s true that I’m eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family — I’m not making any final statements (not all headlines tell the whole story!). I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years — and if that time has taught me anything, it’s this: never say never. Thanks for all the support, I’m so excited for what 2016 holds! xo Cindy

I don’t look the same that I did 25 years ago, and I don’t want to disappoint. Maybe that’s the Midwesterner in me. I want them to like me,” she told Hemispheres.

Crawford became one of the first supermodels in the 80s and 90s, appearing on runways for the topmost labels like Christian Dior, Chanel and Valentino.

She made $6.5 million in 1994 alone, when she topped a Forbes list at age 28, and became one of the top paid models in the world.
