Sherlock’s only connection to India might have been that he was a part of the nation that colonised India. But a music composer Mahesh Raghavan has tried to make his ties stronger to the country by releasing a carnatic-music inspired rendition for the show’s theme song, reported Scroll.in.

The BBC show is definitely a crowd-favourite and Raghavan gave an Indian flavour to the original score composed by David Arnold and Micheal Price.

Raghavan was brought up with western, popular, Indian-classical music, which led him to study music and its production in university.

In his video, with the help of a synthesiser and his iPad, he’s able to create the sounds of instruments like the flute, tanpura, Indian drums and cymbals.

This is the original track for comparison.

Raghavan has also converted the Game of Thrones theme song, Star Wars’ Imperial March, Adele’s Hello and Drake’s Hotline Bling into carnatic-Indian renditions.
