Anupam Kher-Akshaye Khanna-starrer The Accidental Prime Minister is set to release on 11 January, but adulation for the actors are already flowing in from celebrities who attended special screenings of the controversial Vijay Gutte film.

Actors Anupam Kher and director Shekhar Kapur are among people who are lauding Anupam Kher (who plays former PM Manmohan Singh) and Akshaye Khanna’s (who plays his media advisor Sanjaya Baru on whose eponymous book the film is based) performances in what they call a “must-watch” film.

Anil Kapoor wrote on Twitter: “Just like every role you do, @AnupamPKher you have done full justice to this character as well. You're such a great story teller! This definitely was a difficult film and could only be done by an actor par excellence. You are impeccable!”

Shekhar Kapur was blown away as well. She wrote: “What @AnupamPKher has done in playing Manmohan Singh in #AccidentalPM is to create something that could easily have become a caricature, into a breathing relatable human being that you want to reach out to and hug. That takes a lot of skill.”
