Directed by Oscar nominated and two time national award-winning director Ashvin Kumar, No Fathers in Kashmir starring Soni Razdan, has finally been given the green signal to release on 5 April.
Kumar and the team experienced an 8-month long battle with the censor board, which had been denying it the UA certificate. The movie is based in Kashmir and follows the love story of two teenagers, who unite to search for their missing fathers.
Crisis began in July 2018, and after the first viewing took place in October. Following this, the CBFC passed the film with an 'A' certificate, a move which the makers challenged by approaching the FCAT in November. Two hearings in the case were scheduled - one in December, and the other in January.
The film has the bold tagline “Everybody thinks they know Kashmir”. After the CBFC gave the film an ‘A certificate, many filmmakers and actors, including Razdan’s daughter, leading actress Alia Bhatt, also tweeted against the film body’s decision.
Now, after eight full months of struggle, the CBFC has finally given the green signal to the movie.
Ashvin Kumar had previously been nominated for an Oscar for his short film, Little Terrorist and has won two National Awards for Inshallah Football and Inshallah Kashmir. No Fathers in Kashmir is the 3rd in his 'Kashmir trilogy’.
Other than Razdan, actors Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Anshuman Jha and Maya Sarao also feature in the movie.
