R Madhavan has kickstarted shooting his home production Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which he is also directing and starring in. The actor will also reunite on screen with co-star Simran Bagg, 17 years after they wooed the audiences with their chemistry in Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Muthamittal in 2002. Madhavan and Simran will play husband and wife in the film.
The two had also played a married couple in K Balachander’s Tamil hit Paarthale Paravasam in 2001.
Madhavan took to Twitter to announce his reunion with Simran. Referring to their characters in Kannathil Muthamittal , Madhavan wrote, “Thiru and Indira turn into Mr. and Mrs. Nambi Narayanan.”
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a biopic based on the life scientist and aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan.
Narayanan and his team developed the Vikas engine used by several ISRO rockets, including the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) that took Chandrayaan-1 to the moon in 2008.
The teaser that was released last year revealed that the film will tell the story of how the technology that was used in 2008 could have been created 10 years earlier if Narayanan had not been jailed for nearly 50 days on charges of leaking vital defence secrets in 1994.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is slated to release in theatres on 25 January 2020.
