Pink tells the story of three women who are sexually harassed by a group of men who come from a wealthy and influential background. An old, reclusive lawyer comes out of his self-imposed professional exile to take on their case. The women have to deal with the aftermath of the incident and face constant scrutiny for their choices both in and out of the courtroom.

From the trailer, Nerkonda Paarvai appears to be quite a close remake of Pink. However, the trailer for the Hindi film focusses on the women protagonists, the Tamil version seems highlight Ajith’s courtroom performances. While Amitabh Bachchan’s character was portrayed as firm but restrained, Ajith’s lawyer avatar is a fiery one who sternly grills witnesses in the courtroom and is shown beating up a thug at the trailer’s close.

Here’s a look at the trailer for Pink.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, Nerkonda Paarvai marks Ajith’s 59th film. It stars Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami Venkatachalam, and Andrea Tariang, who was also in the Hindi version, in lead roles, with Vidya Balan and Kalki Koechlin making special appearances. The cast also includes Arjun Chidambaram, Adhik Ravichandran, Ashwin Rao and Sujith Shankar.

Boney Kapoor had earlier revealed that it was his late wife Sridevi’s wish to have Ajith, who played a cameo in her 2012 film English Vinglish, cast in the Tamil remake of Pink. The trailer also includes a dedication to her. “While working with Ajith in English Vinglish, Sridevi had expressed her desire that Ajith does a Tamil film for our home production. Nothing exciting came up till one day last year, Ajith suggested remaking Pink in Tamil. She immediately agreed as she thought it was most appropriate and timely film to make and Ajith would bring all the elements required to make it into a great Tamil film,” Kapoor said in a statement.

The release date for Nerkonda Paarvai is expected to be announced soon.
