Manto director Nandita Das, and actors Manav Kaul and Saurabh Shukla, will be starring in the official remake of Saeed Akhtar Mirza’s cult classic Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has confirmed.
The 1980 classic featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil, will be remade by director Soumitra Ranade, known for his movies Jajantaram Mamantaram and Alibaba Aur 41 Chor . He was also the executive producer of Kumar Talkies and Goopi Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiya - a modern day retake of Satyajit Ray’s 1969 classic, Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne.
According to Adarsh, the remake of Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai will release on 12 April.
The story revolves around a young Christian man named Albert Pinto, a mechanic in Mumbai, who is constantly angry with his colleagues who he believes go on a strike under any pretext. However, towards the end, he realizes that it is the rich who exploit the workers and he redirects his anger towards them.
