The trailer of the much talked about Marathi film Chumbak is out, and it promises to be a gem. Starring renowned lyricist Swanand Kirkire and presented by Akshay Kumar, the Sandeep Modi film has been officially selected for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) that is set to take place from August 10 till August 22 under the theme of "Inclusion".
Chumbak revolves around two teenagers (Sangram Desai and Sahil Jadhav) who decide to embark on a scam in order to make a quick buck. It brings them into the rather relentless contact with the differently-abled Prasanna (Kirkire). And the madness begins there, tugging your heart strings all the way.

Chumbak has already made quite a buzz in the festival circuit and is in the line of the quality content Marathi cinema has been consistently producing in recent years. It also promises some extraordinary performances, especially from the child actors.
The content of Marathi cinema is no doubt better than Hindi cinema. Also, they (Marathi cinema) are much bolder. I have seen ‘Balak Palak’ and I have enjoyed watching it. It is a bold film, they (Marathi cinema) create (good) content and that too bold. This film has travelled to several film festivals and got lot of acclaim. That has not happened with my films. My films have not gone to festivals and I felt I should give my name to this film as the content is really good. I have been acting for 28 years but I haven’t seen such a beautiful and real performance like that of Swanand KirkireAkshay Kumar
Chumbak releases on 27 July.
