Madhuri Dixit is turning a year younger on 15 May, and her first Marathi film in an acting career of 34 years releases on 25 May. Bucket List is a coming-of-age story of a housewife who begins to fulfil her dreams and aspirations after an incident changes her life forever.

Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar and produced by Dharma Productions, Bucket List also stars Sumeet Raghavan, Renuka Shahane and Sumedh Mudgalkar, and has a special appearance by a certain Ranbir Kapoor. Watch the trailer here:

From what we can make out from the trailer, Madhuri is as expected, exquisite. Her Madhura Sane starts out ticking off the bucket list of the teenager who donated her heart to her, but ends up learning to follow her own dreams.

“I was earlier approached with many scripts, however, nothing clicked the way this story clicked with me. The story in itself is different as it not just speaks about a woman, but about each one of us, irrespective of the gender, who are striving hard to accomplish their bucket list.”
Madhuri Dixit (as told to Free Press Journal)

From learning to ride a bike to getting drunk in a pub to showing off her legendary dancing skills, Madhuri does it all in the film.

Interestingly, it was the Marathi diction that Madhuri says she had to work the most on.

“We had to work on the intonation part as that differs from the way you speak on a formal basis. I belong to Maharashtra and I speak Marathi, but the language that I speak at home is colloquial Marathi, however, it gets a different edge when you speak in front of the camera. So it was necessary to ensure that the diction is immaculate.”

Bucket List also reunites the famous Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! pair, Madhuri Dixit and Renuka Shahane.

This summer Madhuri as Madhura is going to make the hot month of May seem like a cool breeze with our film #BucketList...

It was emotional and touching to share screen space with her (Renuka Shahane) again as we shared an excellent chemistry while filming ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. Our relationship is bittersweet. She is a fabulous human being and an actress par excellence.

According to director Deoskar, the “biggest challenge was to deglamourise Madhuri Dixit for the role”.

“She rehearses a lot. When she would come to the set, she would know the script by heart, and then while shooting, she would add her own touch to a scene.”
