Netflix, Hotstar, ALTBalaji and other OTT platforms now have an unlikely competitor – food delivery app Zomato, which has announced its foray into web series. 18 original shows are expected to premiere on the platform over the next three months and will feature popular faces such as celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor, and comedians Sumukhi Suresh, EIC’s Sahil Shah, and former SnG Comedy members Neville Shah, Aadar Malik and Kautuk Srivastava.
According to a statement from the company, the videos will be available on the latest version of the Zomato app starting 16 September. Though centred around food, the shows will span various formats including comedy, reality, advice and celebrity interviews with each episode being three to 15 minutes long.
Here’s a look at some of the web series that are to premiere on Zomato:
- Food and You With Sanjeev Kapoor – The celebrity chef debunks food myths in under three-minutes in a series of daily videos under three-minutes.
- Banake Dikha With Sumukhi Suresh – Stand-up comedian – who once worked in a food laboratory and ran a bakery – Sumukhi Suresh teaches you how to get the basics right.
- Grandmaster Chef With Sahil Shah – EIC member Sahil Shah learns age-old recipes from his own grandmother and everyone else’s in town.
- Starry Meals With Janice – Entertainment journalist and anchor Janice Sequeira steps into the kitchens of Bollywood celebs, such as Taapsee Pannu, Rajkummar Rao and Diana Penty, to sample their favourite recipes.
- Dude, Where’s the Food With Jordindian – There is lazy and then there is ‘Jordindian Lazy’. You’ll never need an excuse to order-in again.
- Race Against the App – Neville Shah, Aadar Malik and Kautuk Srivastava race against an order, trying to beat the clock to win.
