2019 was welcomed with open arms with Netflix’s new Brit teen comedy ‘Sex Education’.
We all remember what it feels like to be a teenager trying to navigate through troubled waters (read: high school). Now that we’ve built a bridge over those times, looking back, there were a lot of moments that made us feel invincible and many more that were absolutely cringe-worthy.
Although titled ‘Sex Education’, the show is so much more than what it seems - it’s about the thoughtful, sweet, and sometimes unnerving moments we’ve all been through or experienced first or even second hand.
Here are a few moments from the show that WILL remind you of your awkward teen years:
The Need to Be Popular
“He spoke to me, with actual words”! Eric's dream of becoming popular, and want to be a part of the conversation and not the conversation is one of the most relatable things of the show. We’ve all said or atleast thought this to ourselves when the ‘cool’ kid in school speaks to us.
Let’s Follow the Popular Kid in School
Whether we wear pink on Wednesdays or we’re now vegan, the popular kids are ruled high schools for centuries. Looking back at those times make you wonder WHY you took part in those fads.
The Joy of Being Invited to a Party
“We’re invited to a party!” Nothing could possibly have brought you more joy than when you get invited to a party by someone from the popular group. This acceptance is something we craved for when we were teenagers!
Bully Needing Help From the Smart Guy/High-School Dork
The school bully - loveable dork relationship is quintessential to every high-schoolers life. Whether it comes to them helping out with math homework or getting you out of detention, this love-hate relationship is a bond that we hate to love.
Parents Embarrassing Their Children
Please raise your hand if you’ve ever been scared of leaving your friend alone with your parents? Yes? All right.
Parents have years of wisdom and advice that they can offer us, but apart from this, they definitely have a knack of embarrassing their kids in any and every way possible.
Giving Advice That You Know Nothing About
All of us have once (and some of us still do) played love guru to friends. We’ve all given unsolicited advice on things we know nothing about to comfort a friend in their time of need.
Over the Top Romantic Gestures
Aaah. These are one of the sweeter moments of our teen years. We’ve all had our first crushes, and we’ve all gone above and beyond to confess our love to them - romantic-comedy style.
The Unconventional Startup Idea
Your ‘next big’ thing may seem like a great idea when in school. In an idealistic world, it would have panned out exactly the way you would have wanted it to have. But as you grow up, you realise that several ideas that you've had weren't the brightest.
