1. ‘Game of Thrones’ Receives Record-Breaking Emmy Nominations

The long list of nominations for the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday and HBO’s Game of Thrones has won the race by securing the most number of nominations - 32 to be exact. It beat a 25-year standing record set by NYPD Blue (26 nominations in 1984). Through the course of its 8 seasons, Game of Thrones has received a total of 161 nominations.

Other HBO shows that have received nominations include Chernobyl, Sharp Objects and more. HBO is also leading the nominations in total by platforms (it has received 137 nominations), followed by Netflix (117) and NBC (58).

2. Simi Garewal’s Chat Show to Make a Comeback; Deepveer First Guests

Simi Garewal is set to host a new season of Rendezvous with Simi Garewal with Ranveer and Deepika as her first guests.

Simi Garewal’s iconic talk show Rendezvous With Simi Garewal will return after almost 15 years. While her guest list is usually kept under wraps, the actor revealed to mid-day that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have signed up as guests for the first episode of the reboot. While the original show ran on television, the new edition is likely to be available on Garewal’s YouTube channel and will reportedly feature several of the newer crop of Bollywood actors.

In a new interview, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has opened up about his illness, recovery, what kind of films he’d like to do, the Kangana Ranaut vs media controversy and more.

Speaking to a news daily, Rishi confirmed that his cancer is in remission and he has one cycle of treatment left to cover. He clarified that he is in perfect health now and it was the six week gap between treatments that has kept him away from India in New York for over 9 months. He admitted that he really misses home. After he is done with his consolidation chemotherapy, Rishi plans to return to India by the end of August.

4. Akshay Kumar Announces 2 Crore as Donation for Assam Floods

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar will donate Rs 1 crore each to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, after the flood-stricken Assam, and the Kaziranga Park.

"Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I'd like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund and to Kaziranga Park rescue," Akshay tweeted on Wednesday.

Recently, some intimate scenes of Radhika Apte and Dev Patel, from their Hollywood film, The Wedding Guest, went viral, with a video clip and a few pictures being circulated on the internet. Radhika isn’t amused by this, and said in an interview to an online portal that she attributed it to “the psychotic mentality of the society”.

The Wedding Guest premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018, and had a US release on 1 March this year. But these clips and pictures recently made their way to the internet.
