The first season of Netflix series Delhi Crime will revive the horrors of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case that shook the nation through a fictionalised narrative. The trailer of the web show, which released on Monday, gives us a peek into the investigation of the case, seen through the eyes of police officer Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah).
The trailer begins with Shefali Shah’s team stumbling upon the girl, mutilated and lying on the road. She calls the crime “heinous” and “insanity.” Thus begins a search for the culprits.
As Varthika digs into the crime through her investigation, she realises things aren’t as simple as they seem. The story also shows her strength as she tries hard to not allow her vulnerable self affect her duty. Even Rasika Duggal, who presumably essays the role of a paramilitary officer, is shown trying to battle odds to bring the criminals to book.
Delhi Crime is written and directed by Indo-Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta. Its first season premieres on Netflix on 22 March and it throws light on the toll it took on the investigating team to get the girl justice.
