Bollywood in 2016 has been a mixed bag with some super-exciting flicks salvaging a year of duds. And as far as the music scene is concerned, it is the year old Bollywood songs found their original versions whipped up with some modern tadka for renditions that became chartbusters all the way.
Whether you liked the original or the remix versions, or alternatively, cribbed about them, here are the songs that made it to this list.
Kala Chashma
This song pretty much tops our list as the ultimate party starter of the year. With Katrina Kaif’s killer moves and Sidharth Malhotra’s charm, this song had ‘hit’ written all over it. And sure enough, it became the most watched YouTube music video of 2016.
Kar Gayi Chull
Karan Johar took another song and put Bollywood’s A-listers in it to also make it among the top 10 music videos of 2016 on YouTube. The original song is written by Badshah and its music has been recreated by Amaal Malik for the film, Kapoor & Sons.
Haseeno Ka Deewana
Where the original Sara Zamana had Amitabh Bachchan grooving to the voice of Kishore Kumar, Kaabil’s song, Haseeno Ka Deewana has Urvashi Rautela swaying to the beats of Raftaar And Payal Dev.
Both the songs - Sara Zamana and Haseeno Ka Deewana have been composed by Rajesh Roshan.
Laila Main Laila
This song from Raees has been given a modern tadka and some additional lyrics by Javed Akhtar. And Sunny Leone sizzles with it.
Humma Humma
Many fans of the original AR Rahman song came down heavy on this revamped version of the song. You can read all about it here. Listen to the revamped version which even has a rap by Badshah and decide for yourselves.
Ae Zindagi Gale Laga Le
Dear Zindagi took Sadma’s original song starring Kamal Hassan and Sridevi, and put a fresh vibe to it. The remix is nothing quite like the original but that’s the whole point. Alia Bhatt, who dabbles in singing from time to time, also sang the song. Take a look at the two new versions here.
Aise Na Mujhe Tum Dekho
This lesser known film, Wajah Tum Ho also rehashed two songs - one is the famous Dev Anand song, Aise Na Mujhe Tum Dekho and also Dharmendra’s song, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. We like the original versions hands down. But you can listen and decide for yourselves.
