Raanjhanaa star Dhanush’s latest Tamil outing Thanga Magan releases worldwide this Friday. Here are five reasons why we at The Quint think it’s a film you just can’t miss. Featuring an ensemble cast of Amy Jackson, Samantha Ruth Prabhu along with veterans K.S Ravi Kumar and Radikaa Sarath Kumar, the film has been directed by R. Velraj.
A Perfect Follow-Up To Velaiyilla Pattathari
While the makers have confirmed that this is not a sequel to last year’s blockbuster Velaiyilla Pattathari (read as VIP), which also featured Dhanush, we feel that Thanga Magan serves as the perfect follow-up. Both films have been billed as family entertainers with the spotlight being on the relationship between a mother and son. If we were to go by some of the film’s posters, our guess is likely to hit the nail on its head.
Reunion of theVIP Trio
The trio comprising of Dhanush, director Velraj and music composer Anirudh Ravichander was behind the phenomenal success of VIP, which was one of the most successful ventures of last year. They reunite once again for Thanga Magan and magic is expected to happen once again. There has been a good buzz around the project, ever since the day this film went on floors, and audiences are hoping that the superhit trio won’t disappoint them this time either.
Dhanush-Amy Jackson-Samantha Combo
The lead pair has already raised a lot of eyebrows, thanks to the film’s promos and posters. One of the highlights of this pair is the rumoured lip-lock between Dhanush and Amy.
The makers are also confident that the part featuring Dhanush and Samantha as a married couple will appeal big time to family audiences.
Dhanush in Dual Avatars
The promos have already given us a glimpse of Dhanush’s avatars in the film. He will be seen sporting a clean-shaven look in the part where he plays a teenager, and with moustache in the present day narrative, in which he plays Samantha’s husband.
It’s also rumoured that Dhanush also had to shed some weight to play the role of a teenager in love.
Amy Jackson in a Desi Avatar
Known mostly for her roles in which she’s dressed impeccably in western outfits, for the very first time, Amy will be seen wearing simple salwar suits in this film. Sources have revealed that Dhanush and Amy’s chemistry will leave the audience in splits, while the part featuring Samantha will tug at our heartstrings.
