Undeterred by the failure of his latest release Thanga Magan, actor Dhanush has quickly moved onto his next outing Kodi, a political thriller directed by Durai Senthil Kumar. According to insiders, the film’s story revolves around a political party’s flag (Kodi in Tamil) and events that lead to the fall of a ruler. Usually known for working in romantic and commercial entertainers, this will be Dhanush’s first attempt in this genre.

The film went on floors in Pollachi, where the team is likely to shoot nearly half the project, which also stars Shamlee (of Mani Ratnam’s Anjali fame) and Trisha Krishnan. This will be the first time Dhanush and Trisha are coming together and what’s even more interesting is that the latter is rumoured to be playing a character with negative shades.

The film’s music has been created by the young sensation Santosh Narayanan, who already has big projects such Kabali and Vijay’s next film, in his kitty. Dhanush, who usually collaborates with the Why This Kolaveri Di composer Anirudh Ravichander for most of his films, has teamed up with Santosh for the first time, much to the surprise of all his fans.

As soon as Dhanush wraps up this project, he’s expected to start working on a two-part gangster drama titled Vada Chennai, in which he will essay the role of a local gangster.
