For all the Matrix fans out there, there’s some good news. The movie franchise is all set to get a fourth film in the series with original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in their iconic roles, Neo and Trinity. The news was reported by Variety.
Lana Wachowski will write and direct the fourth film in the series. It will be produced by Warner Bros Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.
Ever since the third installment The Matrix Revolutions, hit screens in 2003, rumours of the fourth installment have been going around. And now, there’s finally an official announcement by Warner Bros. Pictures to support the same. Variety claims that the production for the fourth installment will begin in early 2020.
The previous The Matrix films have been directed by the Wachowski siblings, Lana and Lilly. However, Lilly Wachowski’s name was missing from this year’s announcement.
2019 marks two decades since The Matrix released in 1999 and wowed the audience with its dystopian science-fiction take. The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions followed in 2003.
Actor Keanu Reeves, who recently inspired a meme fest on the internet for his hilarious cameo in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe. He was last seen in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the action film franchise helmed by him.
