In case you’re one of the many holding their breath in excitement for Disney’s The Lion King which releases later this year, there’s some even more exciting news for you. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan will be lending their voice for King Mufasa and his son Simba respectively in the Hindi version of Disney's upcoming live-action film The Lion King.
Taran Adarsh made the official announcement on Monday.
“BIGGG NEWS... Shah Rukh Khan teams up with son Aryan to do voice over for Disney's #TheLionKing in HINDI... SRK will do voice over for the King of the Jungle, Lion Mufasa, while Aryan will do voice over for Mufasa’s son Simba... 19 July 2019 release,” he wrote on Twitter.
But even before the official announcement, it seems like Shah Rukh Khan had already dropped a hint for all of us. On Sunday, he tweeted a photo of him and Aryan in blue cricket jerseys with the names ‘Mufasa’ and ‘Simba’ at the back. SRK easily disguised the message under the garb of Father’s Day. Although, now we know that it was more than that.
“Ready for the match with the spirit of #FathersDay. Go India Go!!”
“‘The Lion King’ is that one movie that my entire family loves the most and it holds a very special place in our hearts. As a father, I can totally relate with Mufasa and the endearing relationship he shares with his son - Simba,Shah Rukh Khan, Actor
He also added that he is excited for his youngest child AbRam to watch The Lion King. “The legacy of Lion King is timeless; and being a part of this iconic re-imagining with my son Aryan makes it extra special for me,” said SRK.
Directed by The Jungle Book fame director Jon Favreau, The Lion King is one of the most-anticipated films of recent times. The original film, considered an animation masterpiece, was released on 15 June 1994, and was not just widely lauded critically, but received commercial success as well.
The Lion King will release in India on 19 July in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
