Twenty-one films and 11 years later here we are on the day of the release of Avengers: Endgame, the conclusion to the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it.
In the first episode of our new podcast series, Reel Deal, we capture all the fan frenzy, and housefull shows, and look at the record breaking advance bookings.
We find out just how much the franchise has grown in the country over the years.
And of course, we get some first hand reactions from fans who caught the early morning show and capture the hype on the ground.
India is an important market for the franchise as its following has grown tremendously over the years. Interestingly, the Russo brothers found some inspiration from the Indian audience, during the making of Endgame.
“There was a recording of an Indian audience watching Infinity War. And when Thor lands, the cheers sounded like a football stadium. We used to play that whenever we got tired on Endgame because it took us two years to make that movie,” Joseph Russo said.
While BookMyShow sold over 2.5 million tickets in advance sales, even the 3.20 am shows on Saturday and Sunday in Mumbai are housefull. Thonos will be proud!
Movie business analyst, Atul Mohan has predicted that Avengers: Endgame could make Rs 350 crore or more at the Indian box office.
If the prediction comes true then Avengers: Endgame could end up grossing higher than the highest earning Hindi film to date, Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which has lifetime collections of around Rs 387 crore.
