It is that time of the year when all the B-town celebrities get busy racking their brains to decide on that one gown or suit that will make a statement on the red carpet. After all, it’s the Style Awards season! In their race to keep heads turning and jaws dropping, while some celebrities personify utter perfection, others only manage to hit lukewarm temperatures and the rest fail miserably.

Here’s a lowdown on who got it right and who got it wrong at the Filmfare Glamour & Style Awards on Monday night:

Sonam Kapoor

Now, this is big. Sonam Kapoor definitely got some hard stares but this time around, they weren’t out of uninhibited appreciation. The most stylish actress of Bollywood walked out looking like a complete disaster. How does one rescue this choice of slipping into a bright fuchsia, fur ball gown?

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan really didn’t take any chances. We are far from being a fan of his look but with his innate charm, he did manage to pull off a decent effort. Honestly, when going for a safe option, there’s nothing more dapper than a signature, black tuxedo. We wish we could trade his navy blue suit for a classic tuxedo.

Jacqueline Fernandez

The one who got us to gawk and ogle at her for a good few minutes was the golden girl Jacqueline Fernandez. She chose to don a risqué, mermaid gown and well, it’s difficult to say if the gown added allure to her or she added her magical touch to the gown. What we are sure of is that the combination is nothing short of perfection.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh has become a regular when it comes to the list of those making an impression with their unforgivable faux pas. This time around he seems to have been inspired by the Scotts! This kilt look that he’s infused in the grey suit is nowhere close to being accounted for as the next trendsetter. We love experimentation but that of this kind, hell no!

Malaika Arora Khan

This ruffled and layered gown worn by Malaika Arora Khan barely makes the cut. While there’s something artistic about the look, the overall appearance seems to be like an ill-fitting block in a puzzle.

Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan’s come as a true surprise package with making the blues work so well for him. Although we have rarely been able to admire his dress sense in the past but this one’s compelled us to change our mind and give him a green signal all the way.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt could just be fined by the fashion police for this one. Walking on the red carpet in such a dampener of a gown is really non-permissible. And where’s any bit of oomph? The Plain Jane hair and nude make-up isn’t floating our boat at all.

Dia Mirza

Now we all know that Dia Mirza is pretty. So, when she manages to pick out a column gown with a plunging neckline, she’s already won half the battle. We don’t see any trace of the extraordinary here but she clears the fashion test.

Athiya Shetty

Athiya Shetty gets our attention only for having made a wise choice. Take shelter in a fail-proof black dress when you haven’t found a remarkable substitute. We like that she’s chosen a glamourous dress that highlights the belle’s best feature, her legs! Although we do think that scrunched curls as opposed to waterfall-straight hair would have added the X-factor.

Neha Dhupia

Neha Dhupia didn’t give us a single reason to prevent her from getting the red light. The excessively unpleasing shimmer in the gown, the loud and far from well done smoky eyes and then, the middle-parted updo with an absence of accessories, we give up already!

Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha’s head-to-toe red look somehow failed to work its magic. Maybe as separates, the gown, lip colour and hair would work beautifully but when put together, they don’t quite complement each other.

Aditi Rao Hydari

Aditi Rao Hydari left us with a jolt and not for the right reason. The tiered, ruffle skirt sure made her look like one of those dancing dolls but did she qualify to be a fashionista at the award ceremony? We think you know the answer.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Ayushmann Khurrana’s grey plaid suit would have easily got him a thumbs up until he decided to slip on a pair of white sneakers and added a red rose brooch. Just a few notches away from getting the green light.
