A day after Tanushree Dutta blasted Ajay Devgn and the makers of De De Pyaar De for including Alok Nath in the film’s cast, Vinta Nanda also expressed her disappointment in the industry. She told Mid-day that for an industry whose morals change as per convenience, she did not expect any better.
“I don’t think Ajay Devgn is in a position to take a stand, so I do not expect anything from him. The money riding on the project is the only dharma for these people”, Vinta Nanda told the newspaper.
She added, “When it comes to making profits in the box office, there is no religion for anyone. Their intentions are exposed in their reluctance to take a stand.”
After the #MeToo movement took India by storm, Alok Nath had been accused of rape and sexual harassment by writer/producer Vinta Nanda in October 2018. A police case was filed against him after which he was granted anticipatory bail. Fellow actors Sandhya Mridul, Himani Shivpuri and Deepika Amin also shared stories of having experienced harassment by Alok.
