Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli and his wife Andrea found themselves in a huge altercation with Bollywood music composer Ankur Tiwari and his father on 1 July at Inorbit Mall, Malad in Mumbai. Kambli and Andrea alleged that Tiwari’s father, RK Tiwari had deliberately brushed his hand against Andrea. The Tiwaris on the other hand claimed the couple punched his 59-year-old father, and that Andrea took off her sandal to assault him.

According to Mumbai Mirror, both Kambli and Tiwari have registered complaints with the police, who are investigating the matter.

Kambli told Mumbai Mirror that he and his wife were at the Game Zone around 3pm when the incident happened. Andrea caught the hand of an old man who had deliberately tried to brush her inappropriately.

Minutes later when we were at the food court, two men, who we assume were the man’s sons, tried to attack my wife. When I told them to back off, they told me, ‘You don’t know who we are’.

Kambli tweeted about the incident, following which a Bandra police official visited his residence later in the evening.

However, according to Tiwari, who happens to be singer Ankit Tiwari’s brother, his father was walking past a woman in the mall when he was punched.

He couldn’t believe he had been punched, and that a woman was screaming, accusing him of brushing his hand against her. I asked my father to identify the woman, and we realised she was Kambli’s wife.

Tiwari added that Kambli abused and threatened him when he tried to speak to the couple and Andrea removed her shoe and threatened to hit him with it. Kambli also reportedly abused onlookers and even chased a woman, who was filming the incident on her phone, to delete it.

The Tiwaris filed a complaint at Bangur Nagar Police Station around 4.30 pm.
