Contributing to the ongoing debate about gender pay gap in the industry, Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon took to Twitter to make themselves heard. Despite being in the lead roles of successful Bollywood films, the two actors were not given necessary credit by a certain digital publication on Twitter.
A website showered Amitabh Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan with praise for their respective performances in Badla and Luka Chuppi, but did not even mention the female leading actors of the film. Taapsee then quoted the tweet with a sharp comment on how the female actors of the film were missed out in the tweet. “The female actors in the film have also worked equally hard but maybe you didn’t get the time to mention their names”, she tweeted in Hindi.
Kriti Sanon too chimed in with support. She quoted Taapsee’s response and said, “#ifeelyougirl”.
The publication then responded with a half-hearted apology. “We apologise if this made you feel bad in anyways. In the office where majority staff is female we know how hard working women are and we will take your feedback into consideration the very minute. P.S. you were fabulous in Badla”.
Many fans also responded to these tweets with their love and support for the actors.
