Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar are being highly praised for their performances in Saand Ki Aankh. Helmed by debutante director Tushar Hiranandani, the two women play Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, the world’s oldest sharpshooters.
The Quint caught up with Taapsee and Bhumi, where they spoke about the criticism about their makeup, how Akshay Kumar has also been a part of the film and more.
Was the dialogue Akshay Kumar marvaenge humko a pun on clashing with Housefull 4?
Taapsee: Absolutely not. When we did this part in the film, the dialogue was not there in the script. This was impromptu. I just ended up saying these lines. There is a reason behind that. Sachin, who is my grandson in the film, is a huge fan of Akshay Kumar in the film. He keeps going to the theatres to watch Akshay Kumar’s films. So, while reacting, I end up saying that line. Now it is a part of the trailer. And such is the date that people are thinking that it’s because of that, but it’s not like that.
Bhumi: And we have paid a lovely tribute to Akshay sir in the film.
There are many comments where people are saying they didn’t like your makeup. And, why such young actresses have been cast for this role?
Taapsee: We are actors, we are not doing modelling in the movie. So, makeup and all are superficial and technical things. I think acting and performance and doing justice to the role is a different thing all together. Makeup is just a small part of that.
