Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, Shikha Talsania and Sonam Kapoor starrer Veere Di Wedding is reportedly among the top five openers of 2018. The female-centric film, which is bold (especially by Bollywood standards), has women openly discussing sex, manages to show a masturbation scene, besides the ladies cussing on screen, has become an invitation for trolls to raid Swara Bhasker’s timeline.

Here’s their “problem” with the film:

Using this template, which mirrors the one Swara and co. used to voice their opinion about the Kathua and Unnao rapes, they are attacking the actor for “embarassing Hindus”.

Besides, of course, getting the spelling of ‘masturbation’ wrong.

A very amused Swara has been making light of the trolls and their ridiculous propaganda. “Looks like a certain IT cell sponsored the tickets - or definitely the tweets,” she said.

In light of the Kathua and Unnao rape cases in April, these Veere actors had taken to social media to condemn the actions of the rapists. Holding placards with “I am Hindustan I am Ashamed” - these actors dared to speak their mind on social media. They got trolled for it, then. And they’re being attacked on social media, now.

Many people on Twitter are calling out the actions of the right-wing trolls.

And then, there was this:

This is not the first time Bhasker is being trolled on social media. The actor has, in the past, spoken her mind on several occasions. She wrote an open letter to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Padmaavat.

While the right wing mob on social media called for a boycott of all the actors who had protested against the Kathua rape case because it was ostensibly “anti-Hindu” and “anti-national” (because of the mention of ‘devi sthan’ and ‘temple’), Bhasker prominently came under the line of their fire after Amazon India responded to a promotional tweet by the actor. Amazon, soon, deleted the tweet.

But Swara always has a strategy in place. Speaking about trolls, she had earlier told PTI,

My way of dealing with social media trolls is to respond. I’m constantly involved in ‘quote retweet’, where you can quote and shame those people. You should never stay quiet if someone is trying to misbehave with you. Challenge it just like you would react on the street if someone misbehaves with you. You have to respond, you have to not let it slide and that’s what I do.

Two can play the game.
