Swara Bhasker was recently trolled by a man who approached her for a selfie at an airport. According to the actor, though she had agreed to pose for a photo, the man sneakily took a video instead. He posted a clip online in which he can be heard saying “But ma’am aayega Modi hi,” with the caption, “Epic beizzati (epic humiliation)”.
No stranger to trolls, Swara clapped back with a tweet saying that she obliged the man’s request because she doesn’t discriminate on the basis of a person’s political leanings. “Tacky and underhand tactics are trademarks of bhakts. I’m unsurprised. But always glad to make bhakts feel like their lives are worthwhile,” she wrote.
Swara has been campaigning for various candidates over the course of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, including Kanhaiya Kumar who is contesting from Bihar’s Begusarai district on a CPI ticket, CPI-M candidate Amra Ram from Sikar, Congress leader Digvijay Singh, and Aatishi Marlena and Raghav Chadha from the Aam Aadmi Party.
The actor had earlier boldly responded to trolls who targeted her controversial masturbation scene from her 2018 film Veere Di Wedding. Photos of people holding placards with the message,“This election don’t be like Swara Bhasker. Use your fingers wisely. Vote wisely.” were circulated on the internet during the fourth phase of polling in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Swara responded to the attack lamenting that their imagination was lacking. “Awwwwwww!!!!! My trolls are hard at work again, sweating it out in the heat to popularise my name.. You guys are SO dedicated & sweet!!! Don’t mind the slut-shaming guys.. their imagination is a bit limited.. but loving the effort you two,” she wrote in a tweet.
