Sushmita Sen Completes 25 Years as India’s First Miss Universe

In 1994, Sushmita Sen was crowned India’s first Miss Universe. She was only 18 years old then. To celebrate the special day, her boyfriend Rohman Shawl took to Instagram to share a photo of Sushmita wearing the crown and he posted an aodrable message. He wrote, "25 years of owning the universe."

Sushmita Sen brought laurels to her country by winning the Miss Universe title. We bring you a short clip showcasing her moment of victory.

After her reign as Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen embarked on her journey as an actor. Her first film was Dastak, wherein she gave a spectacular performance as a victim of stalking. Though Sushmita’s filmography was short, she was part of some memorable movies such as Biwi No. 1, Aankhen and Main Hoon Na.

Apart from acting in films, Sushmita has been an active performer on stage. She was also honoured at the Mother Teresa Awards 2013 for her social work. She also bagged the Eternal Beauty & Actress of the Decade award for her contribution in the field of arts. To add another feather to her cap, Sushmita has judged the Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant too. Sushmita is a single mother of her adopted daughters Renee and Alisah.

Sushmita’s family was seen celebrating with her and had arranged a gigantic cake for her.
