The media coverage of the demise of the legendary Indian actor, Sridevi, is inviting harsh criticism from the film industry. The news of the actor’s death came as a shock to the entire country as it was reported earlier that the actor passed away due to a cardiac arrest. After further investigation and a post mortem, UAE government’s forensic report declared that the cause of death was ‘accidental drowning’. This led various TV news channels to “recreate” the last few minutes of Sridevi’s life in her hotel room’s bathtub. Further ridiculing her demise, one reporter from a regional news channel even got into his own bathtub to “question” her accidental drowning. Various members of the film fraternity raised their voices against this travesty.
