Sonam Kapoor was the gorgeous bride who has been making headlines since her mehendi celebrations kicked off on 6 May. But of the several stunning outfits that she flaunted, perhaps the most admired was the Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla lehenga which she wore during the mehendi.
A beauty in white and gold, the chikankari and zardozi lehenga was made using 40 different stitch techniques. Each panel of the skirt is highlighted with unique motifs in gold and silver zardozi, zari, pearls, Swarovski crystals and tiny sequins. And it took as many as 18 months to make.
The designers shared a video of the making of the lehenga on social media:
“This ensemble is a labour of love and joy. Sonam is our absolute favourite and for her wedding it had to be a fantasy piece that set new creative standards for us in order to do full justice to her and this sacred occasion. She ordered it two years ago and it’s taken multiple teams of artisans eighteen months to create.”Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla (As told to Vogue)
