Sonali Bendre has a solid squad of girls backing her and rooting for her in her fight against cancer. Designer Sussanne Khan and actor Gayatri Joshi regularly travel the distance to be with their friend in New York, where she’s undergoing treatment for cancer. Sussanne took to Instagram to post a heartwarming picture of Sonali and her pals smiling and basking in their togetherness in a park.

“This is us.... Fight for you, Respect you, Include you, Encourage you, Need you, Deserve you, Stand by you. #myheartmonsters #adayinthepark #surfon #summeroflove2018,” Sussanne captioned the selfie.

Sonali Bendre, who is fighting cancer like a boss, recently started a book club, Sonali’s Book Club or #SBC on social media. She shared a picture of herself with the book A Gentleman in Moscow alongside the slogan, “Today is #ReadABookDay and what better way to celebrate it than by announcing the next book for #SBC! This one is a historical fiction set in Russia called "A Gentleman in Moscow" by @amortowles. The premise sounds pretty interesting, and I can't wait to start reading it!”

Dia Mirza took up her challenge to share what she’s reading too!

Sonali earlier shared a post as a part of her journey of trying to adjust to her new life as she fights cancer. The actor contemplates about the nature of vanity, and what it’s come to mean to her as an actor.

“But who doesn't like looking good? The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us... A little vanity here and there does no one any harm. It's important to do what makes you happy, even if it's something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels.... All that white noise doesn't make a difference in the larger picture,” she wrote.

"Vanity is my favourite sin." - Al Pacino Well, it might not be my all-time favourite sin (that would be gluttony 😋), but who doesn't like looking good? The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us... A little vanity here and there does no one any harm. It's important to do what makes you happy, even if it's something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels.... All that white noise doesn't make a difference in the larger picture. No one can tell you what's right or wrong for you. When I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt... "Am I vain for wanting to look good?" As part of the entertainment industry, you're always expected to look good... Maybe that has been ingrained in me? But then I gave it a thought and I realized I like looking good for me. If I'm in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will. Only you know what would make you feel good, and what works best for you. So take every opportunity you can to #SwitchOnTheSunshine. #OneDayAtATime 🙏🌞 Thank you @priyankachopra for connecting me with the amazing @bokheehair, who created my new look.

But for Sonali, it’s only about choosing what’s right for you. “If I'm in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will. Only you know what would make you feel good, and what works best for you,” she wrote.

Sonali also thanked Priyanka Chopra for connecting her with the hairstylist who gave the actor her new look.

Sonali Bendre, who is suffering from ‘high grade’ cancer, is undergoing treatment in New York. She has her girlfriends standing by her side all through the process. In a post, Sonali had reiterated that she’s really happy at the moment, even though people give her strange looks for saying so. And her friends, including Sussane Khan and Gayatri Oberoi are only giving her more strength with their presence in her life at this time.

The actor, who had shorn her hair a few days back, has now gone for a clean-shaven look. And she proudly flaunted it on social media.

She also thanked her family and friends for supporting her, and jokes about how she takes less time to get ready these days because she doesn’t have to fuss over her hair.
