It was the occasion of Smita Patil’s 32 death anniversary on Thursday 13 December and the classic actor was remembered by husband Raj Babbar and son Prateik Babbar. Smita passed away a few weeks after giving birth to Prateik. She was only 31 years old at the time of her death.
Raj Babbar shared an old picture of hers on Twitter and wrote, "Nature gave you such a short span, yet you lived such a fulfilling life. Your journey may have finished but the memories get enriched every single day. Remembering, Smita. It's been 32 years that you left for another world this day. To absorb this, is still difficult."
Prateik had this to say about his mother, "32 years since she left us.. my heart skips a beat every time I think of her.. my heart is restless.. yet perfectly content.. my veins feel heavy.. I can feel my blood.. it feels so warm.. she takes me in.. she takes my breath.. she is my breath.. she is my air.. she is my soul.. she is me. Rest in power, my beautiful."
Smita Patil was one of the leading actors of the Indian new wave in the 80s. She is known for films like Namak Halaal, Chakra, Bazaar, Arth and Mandi. She won a National Award for her performances in Bhumika and Chakra.
