Abhijeet Bhattacharya allegedly used foul words in his conversation with a woman over the phone who consequently filed a complaint against the singer. A FIR under section 509 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against him.
“The woman had an argument with the singer over some drilling work being done in the society. She claims that she was abused by him. We have registered a case and will be investigating the case further,” a police officer said.
Twitter had suspended Abhijeet's Twitter account last year after he posted a string of offensive tweets, especially against women. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Preeti had also earlier registered a complaint against him for allegedly abusing Kumar Menon, a woman journalist on the microblogging platform.
Bhattacharya responded to the accusation saying, “She has been threatening me and others to extort money. I have given a commercial place on rent. My tenants were getting some work done, and she objected to it. Being the owner of the place, I intervened in it.”
