Shweta Tripathi, best known for her performances in acclaimed films like Masaan and Haraamkhor, is all set to marry her longtime boyfriend, rapper Chaitanya Sharma aka Slow Cheetah in Goa on 29 June. The two have reportedly been seeing each other for the past five years before announcing their engagement with an Instagram post in April. Sharma will next be seen in Gully Boy, which features Ranveer Singh in Zoya Khan's directed venture.
Cheetah and Shweta met when they replaced two other actors in The Interview, a play directed by Akarsh Khurana. They didn’t interact much during the play, but got talking about their common passion (which happens to be diving) when seated next to each other on the flight back home.
Speaking of their first encounter Cheetah shares, “Toh mujhe pitch diya gaya tha ki, 'Ek play hai - Delhi mein rahengey, five star hotel, very cute girl being cast as a replacement (Single)! And I was like 'ON'. Before we got on to the flight he (the director) said ke, 'by the time we are back she should be your girlfriend.' Well it took a little longer than that, but yes eventually happened and now we are getting married.”
Interestingly, Shweta is five years older than Chaitanya, and somehow they have this uncanny chemistry which is quite evident, one can tell!
Elaborating about their first fight, Chaitanya says, “ We were talking about Haraamkhor, Masaan and her kind of cinema. And then we suddenly jumped to commercials and she passed this statement, like aisa some blanket statement about Shah Rukh Khan. I can't pinpoint what it was, and I was like 'Boss no! You can’t say that!'”
“He was like, cute hongi tum, but not against Shahrukh Khan,” adds Shweta. “But then I think solving that fight, we realised how much we like each other. After we solved that argument, we were like bas!” sums up Chaitanya.
