Kalank star Sonakshi SInha has reacted to her father Shatrughan Sinha quitting the BJP, saying that he should have done it long back and indicating that the veteran actor/politician was not happy. On Thursday 28 March, Shatrughan announced that he was leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party and joining Congress.
Speaking at the HT India’s Most Stylish Awards on Friday, Sonakshi said that she supported her father’s decision and hopes he can get good work done.
“It’s his choice. If you aren’t happy somewhere the way things are going, you should definitely change it. Which he did. I hope with his new association with Congress, he will be able to do a lot more good work and not feel suppressed.”Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi did not mince words about the BJP’s supposed shabby treatment of her father, saying that he was a senior and did not get the respect he deserved.
“Being a party member from the beginning from the time of JP Narayan ji, Atal ji and Advani ji, my father has a lot of respect within the party and I feel the entire group has not been given the respect they deserve. I think he has done it a bit too late, and he should’ve done it long back,”
Sonakshi will next be seen in the period drama Kalank alongside Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film releases on 16 April.
