An old video, doing the rounds on the internet, shows Bollywood’s King Khan consoling a weeping Ranveer Singh, who by his own admission, was “overwhelmed” after winning the award for the ‘best actor in a debut role’ for his first film Band Baaja Baaraat’ in 2010.

After Ranveer thanked his family and his lucky stars for sharing the stage with Shahrukh and Shahid Kapoor, who were the hosts for the awards, and Karan Johar, who was giving away the award, he was called back to stage by Shahrukh, who jokingly said:

“Aree tu Kyu Ro Raha Hai. Rona to Hum mein chahiye. Ab tu aa gaya Hai. Ab Humara kya hoga Industry mein.” (Why are you crying? We should be crying. Now that you are here to provide competition, what’s going to happen to us in the industry?)

While Ranveer laughed out loud to that one, little did he know that Shahrukh’s words would have an almost prophetic meaning.

Ranveer’s Bajirao Mastani had beaten Shah Rukh’s Dilwale when both their films released together, and now Gully Boy raking in over Rs 200 crore, and thriving even on its second week at the theatres, it’s definitely providing stiff competition to everyone in the industry.

Looks like Shahrukh knew what he was talking about.
