On an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, which will air shortly, producer Sajid Nadiadwala revealed that Salman Khan allegedly called off his wedding in 1999 barely five days before tying the knot. According to Sajid, the two even decided to get married on the same day but Salman backed out at the last minute. “He already had a girl, I had to find one for myself. Salman’s father’s birthday is on November 18, so we had decided to tie the knot on the same date,” he said.
He added, “Everything was set, even cards were sent out. Just five or six days before the due date, he said, ‘I don’t have the mood.’” While Sajid decided to go ahead with his wedding, Salman apparently came up to greet him and whispered that there was a car waiting for him outside the venue in case he had a change of heart.
While Sajid didn’t reveal the name of Salman’s bride-to-be, Salman was rumoured to have been in a relationship with model and actor Sangeeta Bijlani in the ’90s. She later married cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. During an episode of Koffee with Karan he had said that his wedding had been called off after his fiance caught him cheating.
Salman was linked with Katrina Kaif for several years and is most recently said to be dating Romanian TV presenter and model Iulia Vantur. Salman and Sajid have worked together on Kick and David Dhawan’s Partner. They will reunite for Kick 2 which will reportedly release in 2020. In the meanwhile, Salman will return as police inspector Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg 3. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Saiee Manjrekar. Dabangg 3 releases on 20 December.
