Ever since 27 October, Delhi’s air quality has been progressively worsening. In some areas, the Air Quality Index has reached as high as 900. Every morning, Delhi and the NCR region wakes up to thick smog and increasing pollution levels.

In light of this crisis, Bollywood celebs recently took to social media to express their concern.

On 2 November, Arjun Rampal, after just landing in Delhi, tweeted about how the air was unbreathable. He wrote, “Just landed in Delhi, the air here is just unbreathable.Absolutely disgusting what has become of this city. The pollution is visible, dense smog. People arein masks. How much more disaster does one need to wake up and do the right thing? Tell ourselves we are wrong. #DelhiBachao”

On 3 November, Priyanka, who is currently in Delhi for the shoot of her upcoming film The White Tiger, shared a selfie. In the photo she is wearing a pollution mask. The caption reads, “Shoot days for #thewhitetiger. It’s so hard to shoot here right now that I can’t even imagine what it must be like to live here under these conditions. We r blessed with air purifiers and masks. Pray for the homeless. Be safe everyone. #airpollution #delhipollution #weneedsolutions #righttobreathe”

Rishi Kapoor also took to Twitter to raise awareness in a tongue-in-cheek manner. He posted a photo that says, “Breathlessness, palpitation, moist eyes...you’re either in love or in Delhi.”

Lisa Ray also took to social media to share her thoughts.

She wrote, “Delhi. As an individual with compromised immunity due to the maintenance therapy I’m on for my condition, just can’t take a chance with the appalling conditions in Delhi. If Beijing could clean up its act, what it’s gonna take to clean up our nation’s capital?”

Actor Swara Bhasker also shared a selfie and wrote, “Raat ke dhaii bajey.. sunsaan sadak.. smog aur pradooshan sey phephadey jamm gaye hain.. saans nahi li jaa rahi.. magar.. Instagram upload chaloo hai! #vanity #narcissistalert (At 2.30 am in the night, on an isolated street, my lungs are clogged due to the smog and pollution. I can’t even breathe but I’ll continue to upload on Instagram!)”

Jacqueline Fernandes also took to Instagram to share a masked selfie. On 17 November she wrote, “Back to Delhi but this time it’s different. Hope we resolve this pollution crisis soon and it never gets this bad again.”
