Pop star Rihanna's recent photo has led to a huge outrage on Twitter. On Tuesday, 16 February, Rihanna took to Twitter to share a topless picture of herself, wearing a statement Ganesha pendant. The shoot was for her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty. Apart from the pendant, the singer-actor also wore other accessories such as diamond bracelets, neckpieces and statement earrings.
Rihanna's tweet soon went viral, with netizens alleging that she hurt their sentiments. Many people also accused her of abusing religion for aesthetic purposes.
Some time back, a tweet by Rihanna in support of the ongoing farmers' protests in India also led to her getting severe backlash. Sharing a story by news outlet CNN on the internet blockade imposed in some districts of several states around Delhi in view of the protest against the Centre’s new farm laws, Rihanna had asked as to why everyone wasn't talking about it.
From activist Greta Thunberg to actor Amanda Cerny and media personality Mia Khalifa, Rihanna received an outpouring of support for her stance.
