Superstar Rajinikanth has been honoured with the Icon of Golden Jubilee Award at the International Film festival of India (IFFI), Goa 2019. He was given the award by Amitabh Bachchan, Minister of Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant at the 50th edition of the film festival.
As he bestowed the award upon ‘Thalaiva’ Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Thank you so much Rajini, for being with me and an incredible source of inspiration. Such a humble human being, came up from such humble beginnings. It is incredible that we have him here with us today inspiring us everyday.”
"Good evening to everybody. I am extremely happy to receive this prestigious Golden Jubilee Icon award. My heartfelt thanks to Indian government for honouring me with this prestigious award and I dedicate this award to all my producers, directors and all the technicians who worked in that realm,” said Rajinikanth upon receiving the award.
Director Karan Johar opened the inaugural ceremony of IFFI and introduced the Golden Jubilee Award.
