It’s been a month since Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas were wed. The couple were joined in matrimony in two ceremonies over 1-2 December 2018, one in accordance with Christian traditions and the other following Hindu ones.
For the Christian ceremony, the bride, groom and the rest of the wedding party were all dressed in outfits custom-made by Ralph Lauren. The fashion house has now released previously unseen photographs and videos of the wedding with details that showcase the thought that went behind crafting each creation.
Priyanka turned heads in an ethereal lace gown with a 75-foot-long veil. It was in Paris where she tried out her dress for the first time, reveals Ralph Lauren. The veil was actually made from two separate cuts of tulle.
Both the bride and groom’s outfits were embellished with meaningful little details.
Priyanka’s gown was hand-embroidered by 15 artisans in Mumbai with 8 words and phrases that were important to her woven into the coat. These included ‘Hope’, ‘Compassion’, ‘Love’, ‘Family’ and the mantra ‘Om Namaha Shivay’ as well as the wedding date, Nick’s full name and the names of her parents.
The dress took a total of 1,826 man hours to create, and used 32,000 sequins, 5,600 beads and 11,632 Swarovski crystals. Here’s a look at the initial design.
Nick and his groomsmen were outfitted in custom tuxedos from Ralph Lauren’s Purple Label. A piece of Priyanka’s gown embroidered with the words ‘My Jaan’ was sewn into the inside of the lapel.
