Priyanka Chopra was honoured for her contribution to cinema at the Marrakech International Film Festival on 5 December. The actor took to Instagram to share a few pictures from the red carpet along with a note of thanks. “To think that my career started nearly 20 years ago is surreal. I am honored and proud to be recognized tonight at the Marrakesh Film Festival. Thank you, truly, to everyone who came out to Jemaa el Fna square. #Gratitude. Thank you,” she wrote.
According to reports, actor and director Robert Redford; veteran French filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier; and actor Mouna Gettou were also honoured at the festival. Amitabh Bachchan was presented with the lifetime achievement award at the festival in 2012, and made another appearance in 2015 accompanied by Shah Rukh Khan, Sharmila Tagore and Tabu.
Priyanka was also felicitated with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York on 3 December. The actor has been working with UNICEF since 2006, and was appointed the national UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010 and Global Ambassador in 2016.
Nick Jonas wrote a loving note to congratulate her that read: “So proud of who you are and the good you’ve brought into the world as a goodwill ambassador with @unicef @unicefindia for over 15 years now. You inspire me every single day by just being you. Congratulations my love.”
