Delivering a powerful speech at the United Nations Climate Action Summit 2019, 16-year-old environment activist, Greta Thunberg brought to the forefront the issue of climate change and criticized world leaders for their apathy towards the crisis.
The climate crusader has found supporters all around the world and Priyanka Chopra too backed her call for climate action as she shared a video of the Swedish girl at UN. Posting the video, the UN Goodwill Ambassador wrote, “How dare we fail you... and what audacity we have to not want to help you save what’s left. Thank you @gretathunberg for giving us the much needed punch in the face, for bringing your generation together and showing us that we need to know better, do more to save what is most critical. At the end of the day, we only have this one planet. #howdareyou”
Alia Bhatt too tweeted about the same and said, “Listen. Learn. Think. Act!!!”
In her speech, Greta said, “I shouldn’t be here. I should have been back at school, on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you? For more than 30 years, the signs have been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you are doing enough when the politics and the solution needed are still nowhere in sight.”
“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?” she added.
