Recently, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter was threatened with rape because he voiced his opinions against the Prime Minister. Anurag had tweeted, urging PM Narendra Modi to help deal with the trolls. Now, he told Indian Express that the PM’s silence encourages trolls. He was trolled for tagging the Prime Minister.
“I get trolled a lot, but I ignore them. However, I had tagged the PM for a reason. Prime Ministers have said that these incidents should not happen, but if someone in authority says that such things will be punishable, they will automatically stop,” the director said.
He also told Indian Express that the PM’s silence encourages trolls. “When trolls, specially from small cities, tweet such things on behalf of a well-known person, they think that there could be a chance these celebrities will find out they are doing this for them. Thus, strong words are needed to end trolling,” he added.
He also said that in a democracy, nobody should be scared of voicing their opinions, even if it goes against the government.
Anurag Kashyap has filed an FIR against the social media troll who threatened to rape his daughter Aaliya. The FIR has been registered at Amboli police station and the accused has been booked under sections 504 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code and 67 of Information Technology Act.
