Nimrat Kaur turns a year older on 13 March. On her birthday, here’s looking back at the actor’s triumphant journey in the entertainment industry.

Her Early Days

She made her film debut way back with Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana in 2012. However, it wasn’t until her stint in The Lunchbox, opposite Irrfan Khan, that she had finally arrived. She recently got nostalgic about the film and shared a heartfelt post on Instagram.

“Where it all began....forever blessed. #5YearsOfLunchBox #LifeTimeOfLove”, she wrote in the caption.

Most recently, Kaur was seen sharing the stage with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in the film Airlift. However, she’s not someone who limits herself. With a diverse portfolio, Kaur has made her mark not just on the Indian big screen but television as well. In 2017, Kaur starred in a web series called The Test Case as the “first girl commando” on OTT platform ALTBalaji. Reflecting back on the time spent filming for the show, the actor shared a touching Instagram post.

In 2017 I had the esteemed privilege of playing the first girl commando in the Special Forces in the Indian Army. For nearly 60 days I had the honour of wearing the OG uniform in the name of my costume for the day. Rarely as an actor do you come upon a chance to enact your childhood dream for a living. On this most glorious 70th Army Day, I’m sharing some moments ( thank you @kunjinout for all these gems ♥️) of a time that shall remain most precious to me for all my living days. I could hardly find images from set where I’m not bursting with joy in my time off. The closest I could come to being and feeling one with the Armed Forces all over again. Also, remembering today all the brave, unsung super hero Indian soldiers who no longer live to see and be with their loved ones so that we can peacefully do so. Proud forever to be an Army daughter and so blessed to have played one. #ArmyDay #ProudArmyGirl #FaujiKidForever #TheTestCase #Jan26 @altbalaji

Bittersweet Memories

The Test Case was particularly special for Kaur because of her father. Major Bhupender Singh was an important parent figure in Kaur’s life until his death in 1994. In January, Kaur shared a heartening Instagram caption with a childhood picture of her and her father.

“The warmest, most valiant, virtuous man, who’s short but large life continues to be a marvel. Late Major Bhupender Singh, my handsome, brave father of this lifetime and many before journeyed on 25 years ago today. The light he left behind with his deeds and courage remains the brightest star in the darkest hour of my life. Eternally grateful to the universe to have blessed me with all a girl could ask for in a father and more, rich with memories enough to last my physical lifetime. Until we meet again Papa...somewhere, sometime.”, she wrote as the caption.
