In a new video clip going viral on Twitter, actor Priyanka Chopra is seen responding to a disgruntled Pakistani fan, saying that she does not prefer war between India and Pakistan but she is patriotic and has to straddle a middle ground.

The fan had asked her if she was encouraging war between the two nuclear nations and said that Priyanka had a lot of Pakistani fans like herself. The incident took place at Beautycon in Los Angeles where Priyanka was part of a panel on Saturday, 10 August. Beautycon is a hugely popular fashion, beauty and lifestyle event.

The poor quality video taken was by a journalist attending the panel, who wrote, “Priyanka Chopra gets an audience question calling her hypocritical — here’s her response. #beautycon” Take a look

In the video, the upset fan is heard saying, “You’re a UNICEF ambassador for peace and you’re encouraging nuclear war. There is no winner in this. As a Pakistani, millions of people like me have supported you and your business.” The question was apparently regarding a tweet of Priyanka’s where she supported the Indian Army.

Priyanka is visibly annoyed by the question, and asks the fan if she’s “done venting” before going into her response.

“I have many friends from Pakistan, and I am from India. War is not something that I’m really fond of but I am patriotic. I’m sorry if I hurt sentiments to people who do love me and have loved me. But I think that all of us have a sort of middle ground that we that we all have to walk.”

Priyanka then further chastises the fan for “coming at her” and adds, “Girl, don’t yell. Don’t embarrass yourself.”

Priyanka will next be seen on the big screen in Shonali Bose’s The Sky is Pink with Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. The film is Priyanka’s return to Bollywood after three years.
